A free interactive tool for building a colorant combination matrix — a biaxial glaze test that maps every pairing of nine common ceramic oxides from a single master batch. Set your water percentage and the calculator sizes the batches, lists the double-strength colorant doses, and lays out a numbered 45-tile grid that covers all 36 colorant pairs plus 9 single colorants in one firing.
How to use it
Mix one master batch of base glaze, split it into color batches (one per colorant) plus a plain-base cup, and stir in the listed dose. Combine equal parts of any two color batches to make each test tile, fire them together, then use the tile key to see exactly which colorants and amounts produced each result.
Testing one colorant at a time first? Use the single-colorant test calculator. For the full method behind it, see our guide to colorants and glaze testing.
